Mileage

There are two ways you can track this deduction. The easiest way is to take what the IRS calls the Standard Mileage Rate, which is currently 14 cents per mile. So instead of figuring out how much gas and oil you used during your driving, you just track the number of miles you drove and multiply by 14 cents.

The other way is to actually track the amount of expenses you had in gas and oil.

Whichever way you choose to track these expenses, make sure you keep good written records of your travel, including date, destination, purpose, miles driven and charity.
